The first Trial is a Success
High Tech Construction Products have installed their first trial of Self-Healing Pavement (SP) in China. This trial was conducted in Shanghai one month ago with the purpose of proving the abilities and benefits of this Dust Suppressant and Road Stabilisation product on a building construction site access road.
The site chosen was a good test for the stabilisation abilities of SP as the existing sub-base of this access road was a thin layer of crushed brick laid over a very wet and soft swamp area.
We installed our Self-Healing Pavement (SP) product to a portion of this existing access road, starting at the end of the existing concrete road, beyond our SP trial section we simply laid 100mm of conventional loose gravel so that we could conduct a direct comparison.
The installation was carried out very late in the afternoon and was completed within a matter of hours, with only two of our specialised road technicians conducting the installation.
The following simple steps were taken for the installation;
- Mixing the SP Product with the gravel
- Spread the mixed aggregate to 100mm deep
- Shape the road to suit
- Water as required to maintain moisture content
- Compact as necessary with a Vibrating Roller
Done, you have a hard pavement ready for immediate use!
Immediate tests!
We drove our SUV vehicle on the road only minutes after we completed the installation.
We drove 20 ton trucks on the road within a matter of hours with no affect at all!
This first trial very clearly represents that we can very quickly turn an existing gravel or dirt road into a solid stabilised pavement, with the added benefit of being a long lasting dust suppressant. We are very pleased with the results!

One month later and the results are very obvious!

This picture was taken at 1pm in the afternoon of a dry and hot summers day, you can see the obvious moisture content of our piece of road proving the Dust Suppression abilities!

And our SP trial road against the existing concrete road shown below, the moisture content is very clearly evident!
This SP treated road has had many heavy trucks driving on it over the past month with no detrimental affect at all to the road stability.
